Patient / Proband

Explanation:
This refers to the participants of a study, and from trial phase II on, it is called "Patient" in German, in trial phase I it is called "Proband", as in phase I usually healthy persons are tested and in later phases persons with the respective disease, so in most of the cases (at least in the texts I come across) it is "Patient".
