Medical - Medical: Pharmaceuticals | | English term or phrase: cough out | I occassionally get cought out if I forget to carry my Ventolin with me
Es geht um ein Asthmamittel. Die o.a. Aussage trifft ein Patient, der zwar zur Risikogruppe gehört, dies aber selbst nicht einsieht.
Was bedeutet dieses "caught out"? Heißt es sowas wie "sich die Lunge heraushusten" oder etwas ähnliches?

Das ist nicht die Vergangenheitsform von "cough", das ist kein unregelmäßiges Verb.
Beispiele:
"You may have simply been caught out by the weather on the other side of the English Channel, and had to leave your boat in a foreign port to return for pressing business commitments."

"Most verbs, of course, go from present tense (cough, coughs) to past tense (coughed) by adding ed (or, if the word ends in e—believe—by adding only d). But not irregular verbs. Irregular verbs go from present to past by doing all sorts of weird things—and adding ed or d isn’t one of them."
