In der Beschreibung eines neuen Arzneimittels und dessen klinischer Studie befindet sich ein Schaubild, das die Verringerungen des systolischen Blutdrucks als Kurve anzeigt und folgende Unterzeile hat:

Figure 1: Mean ***(+/-SE)*** Urinary-free cortisol (nmol/24h) and systolic blood pressure at time points up to month 12.

Abbildung 1: Durchschnittl. (+/-SE) freies Cortisol im Urin (nmol/24h) und systolischer Blutdruck zu verschiedenen Zeitpunkten bis nach Ablauf von 12 Monaten.

Im Text ist die Rede vom Durchschnittswert des 24-Stunden-FHC (=freies Cortisol im 24-Stunden-Urin) als zugrunde liegendem Ausgangswert bei Behandlungsbeginn.

Aber was bedeutet hier **+/-SE** in Bezug auf den/die Durchschnittswert(e)?
