agree  Anne Schulz: Considering the whole sentence, I'd prefer your suggestion to mine since obviously no blood levels were determined of the drug.

The exact meaning depends on what comes after "trough" in your sentence! Usually trough refers to the concentration of a drug (at the end of the dosage interval, as Ariane pointed out).
