English to German translations [PRO] Medical - Medical (general) / Carpometacarpal Implant | | English term or phrase: articulate against recesses prepared in the base of... | I'm reviewing the description of an implant to replace the basal thumb joint. It says here:
The XXX is a single-use, interpositional prosthesis intended for the basal thumb joint. *It articulates against recesses prepared in the base of the first metacarpal and the trapezium.* [...]
The XXX is intended to replace the joint between the first metacarpal and the trapezium in cases of rheumatoid arthritis, traumatic arthritis, osteoarthritis or post fracture deformation or bone loss which present as either a painful, unstable thumb, or a thumb with limited range of motion.
How should the sentence in ** be translated? Do I understand correctly that the recesses are made on purpose for the implant? And then how do I say 'articulate against'?
The translation says the device is used 'to close recesses between the first metacarpal and the trapezium', but I have a feeling this isn't quite right, or is it?
Many thanks! |
