English to German translations [PRO]
Medical - Medical (general) / Acronym/abbreviation in military health record
English term or phrase: esi
This appears in a list of things someone could be allergic to. (At least, that's what I understood the list to be.)
It's a medical report issued by a US Army clinic. It's 8 pages long and this paragraph is from the first page, where a whole bunch of background information on the patient is cited with no apparent relevance for the issue at hand.

This is the whole paragraph:

Allergen information verified by xxxxxxx on May 12 xxxx (<-- this line is bold and underlined; it's the title)
Reason(s) for Visit (Chief Complaint):
meds; no
otc; no
herbals; no
esi; no

Any idea what esi is? otc should be over-the-counter meds, I guess. The only thing that keeps coming up is "epidural steroid injection", but why would they list such a specific procedure in such a general list?

Epidurale Steroid-Injektionen

Explanation:

The Medications module is a list of the patient's past and present medications. The list includes dispensed medications ordered from within AHLTA but also any meds that have been prescribed outside of the Military healthcare system (if entered in to the system), OTC (Over the Counter) medications that the patient may be taking on their own, including herbs and supplements, and any medications that have been prescribed at other types of facilities that are linked to AHLTA (as with the VA system).
