Ich glaube nicht, dass mit "quick" eine hohe Wellendrehzahl angedeutet wird. Stattdessen bin ich mir sicher, dass es sich um eine Welle handelt, die nach dem Zapfwellenprinzip bei Bedarf schnell an ein externes Getriebe gekoppelt und ebenso schnell wieder von diesem getrennt werden kann.
Unter "quick shaft" wäre dann genauer gesagt eine steckbare Welle (kurz: Steckwelle) zu verstehen, wohingegen mit "quick shaft gear box" ein Getriebe mit Steckwellenanschluss gemeint sein dürfte.
Abschließend noch zwei Beispiele aus dem Internet:
(1) Faltbootbasteln: Seitenbordmotor - Tuemmler
