Law/Patents - Military / Defense / military rank | | English term or phrase: flight line commander colonel | This is a text for an exhibition where the artist has dealings with a person with that title.
"Then a massive Mercedes with flags flanking the hood approached across the runway.
The airport manager checked his walkie-talkie.
There were QnAs in static Turkish. I understood nothing of it. The Mercedes arrived and out climbed **flight line commander colonel** Baloban.
Ich weiß natürlich, dass colonel mit Oberst übersetzt wird, aber was ist bitte ein "flight line commander" in der türkischen Luftwaffe?

Da die Aufgaben des flight line commanders nicht genau bekannt sind, denke ich dass die Tätigkeitsbezeichnung am ehesten vergleichbar ist mit dem Kommandeur Fliegende Gruppe der deutschen Luftwaffe und Marine, siehe Link 2.
Der Dienstgrad ist laut NATO vergleichbar mit einem Oberst, siehe Link 1.
Ich war selbst in einer fliegenden Gruppe tätig.
