A shaped charge is an explosive which has been shaped in such a way that when detonated the energy of the explosion is channeled in one direction.

Die Hohlladung ist eine spezielle Anordnung von brisantem Sprengstoff, (oft auf Nitropenta- oder Hexogen/Oktogenbasis) um eine kegel- oder halbkugelförmige Metalleinlage, die sich besonders zum Durchschlagen von Panzerungen eignet. Sie wird als panzerbrechende Munition‎ dementsprechend in Panzermunition, Panzerabwehrwaffen und Streubomben eingesetzt.

Hohlladungen werden auch im zivilen Bereich für den Abbruch eingesetzt, oft in Form von Schneidladungen.
