For certain forensic, homeland defense, and military applications, the RDA system must be operable in the field. Accordingly, the instruments have been designed so that they can be placed almost anywhere and are capable of transport whether hand-carried, driven by car, or transported by air. Asker: Danke Wendy. Es geht ganz konkret um einen Auftrag des US-Verteidigungsministeirums, aber die schnelle DNA-Identifizierung kann natürlich auch an anderen "Fronten", beispielsweise im Katastrophenschutz, angewendet werden.

wäre m.E. der korrekte militärische Begriff

Unter Gefechtsbedingungen bedeutet mittendrin... und da stellt man kein mobiles Feldlazarett hin... nicht wirklich...

Im Zweifelsfall wäre noch Wendy's Vorschlag akzeptabel.

noch eine Ergänzung:

"... must be operable in the field..." bedeutet nicht, dass das Gerät unter Gefechtsbedingungen oder auf gar auf dem Gefechtsfeld funktionieren muss, sondern "im Felde"... raus ins Grüne... oder in die Wüste... Generator hinstellen, betanken und anwerfen, Strom ans Gerät dran und es funktioniert. Dazu muss es dann Witterungsbedingungen oder auch Grobheiten bei Transport, Auf-&Abbau aushalten... evtl. auch noch bei Luftverlastung und/oder Absetzen aus der Luft in niedriger Höhe...
