English term or phrase: suspensions and resolutions
Shortly before the end I use an equivalent sequence of suspensions and resolutions but this time using only two instruments. (Es geht um ein Streichquartett)

DOes anyone know the correct translation of suspension / resolution in this context? Thank you.

Explanation:
"Spannung" is certainly a translation of the word "suspension", but in Harmonielehre the right word would be Vorhalt - confirmed by Groves.

agree  Karin Maack: Obwohl es sich hier nicht unbedingt um diesen Fachbegriff der Harmonielehre handeln muss, spricht der Plural von suspensions doch sehr dafür.
