ich übersetze die Beschreibung eines Dirigierkurses für "college band conductors". Leider sind nur die Namen der einzelnen Unterrichtsinhalte genannt, Erläuterungen gibt es keine. Dies ist ein Teil der Liste:
Unit IV – Organizing Meter
Duple and triple meter
- Feeling “in tune” with meter
Reinforcing connections between aural image, gesture, and musical response
Pattern as the servant of the music
- Standard, ***focal point*** and alternative patterns

Ich habe Schwierigkeiten mit dem Begriff "focal point pattern", es scheint eine Schlagtechnik oder eine bestimmte Art von Schlagfigur gemeint zu sein, aber ich komme nicht weiter.

Language variant: "die Eins"
Explanation:
Ich wage mal eine Vermutung: der "focal point" - höchstwahrscheinlich ohne Verbindung zu "pattern" - soll die Ausgangsstellung des Dirigenten zu Beginn eines jeden Taktes bezeichnen, also "die Eins". Ob es dafür ein feststehendes deutsches Wort gibt, ist mir nicht bekannt.
Wikipedia sagt aber folgendes:
"Eine Grundvoraussetzung für das Dirigieren ist die individuelle Schlagebene. Auf diese Ebene werden, abhängig von der Armlänge und Bewegungsart des Dirigenten, alle Schlagfiguren bezogen. Ist die Schlagebene unklar oder verändert sie sich im Laufe des Stücks, haben die Schlagfiguren keine genaue Bedeutungsebene. Damit wird das Dirigieren ungenau, und entsprechend unklar wirkt das Signal auf das Ensemble."
Darum tippe ich auf "Schlagebene" im weitesten Sinne.
