Term used to denote the competence of a musician, for example one can develop one's chops by practising all night, together with other musicians, listening to and working from tape or CD recordings, etc.

I don't think there's really a German equivalent. On rare occasions you may encounter the English term in German (among insiders — it's not something most people would understand).

The best I can think of is Technik or Spieltechnik. You might say a musician is "technisch gut."
