I should imagine a thing like that has probably been claimed by some kingdom or other as its treasure.

Da es aus einer Geschichte stammt, passt nationales Kulturgut nicht so gut.

*Ich nehme an, ein solches Objekt (ein solcher Schatz) wurde schon von irgendeinem König(reich) zum Eigentum erklärt. *

Ich gehe davon aus, irgendein König hat sich so einen Schatz schon unter die Nägel gerissen. (wenn es etwas salopper sein darf)

Ich verstehe zwar nicht ganz worum es geht (ein historischer Roman oder eine Abenteuergeschichte in der heutigen Zeit, o.ä.) verstehe den Satz aber so, dass jemand rückblickend spricht.
Dieses Ding hat wahrscheinlich einmal zum Kronschatz irgendeines Königreichs gehört.
"Kronschatz" da Königreich - man redet generell nicht vom "Schatz" eines Königreichs.
