down: runterbekommen Explanation: the 2 expressions don\'t seem to mean the same... to melt down popsicles would be the same as melting them, which would indeed be auftauen or schmelzen (lassen). In \"How many melted popsicles can you down\", however, \"down\" is used a verb, meaning eat or drink... sounds like some kind of juvenile contest... so in German it would be \"wieviel geschmolzenes Eis bekommst Du runter?\" |
