wrong choice by asker
I am afraid, but the asker has taken the wrong choice:
1. the proper translation for the Football World Cup into German is not "World Cup". There are "Weltcups" in other sports, but the German term for football is "Weltmeisterschaft"
2. Even if "World Cup" would be the proper translation, "World Cup" in German would be masculine, therefore the "Genitiv" would be "des" and not "der". So the translation would be "Gewinner des World Cup"
3. But nobody in Germany would use the term "Gewinner der Weltmeisterschaft in 1998". Franz Beckenbauer would never be called "Gewinner der Weltmeisterschaft in 1974", but always "Weltmeister 1974"
I hope the asker will correct her translation.
