English term or phrase: oriole
what is the name of this bird in German?
der Pirol or die Goldamsel
when referring to 'plain' oriole, you should translate it by 'der Pirol' - a golden oriole would be 'die Goldamsel', but if you're translating a American English text it might well be 'der Star' as in 'Baltimore oriole'.
Thought you should know.
