But post-graduate"= Student mit akad. Grad, nee, nicht im Deutschen.

Ein "postgraduate" im Deutschen wäre jemand, der einen akademischen Grad (Doktortitel) ERWERBEN WILL nach dem Hochschulabschluß, also ein DOKTORAND.

Um es neutral zu machen, könnte man eleganterweise schreiben "Studierende (nicht Sudenten, das klingt wie 19) mit abgeschlossener Hochschulbildung.

Student vor dem Vordiplom/Student zwischen Vordiplom und Diplom


Explanation:
ein 'undergraduate' ist ein Student (normalerweise)im ersten oder zweiten Studienjahr an der Universität, vor dem undergraduate degree - auch 2 year degree (welcher so in etwa unserem Vordiplom entspricht).
In der Medizin wäre das entsprechend das Vorklinikum.
Ein "graduate" oder "graduate student" ist ein Student im (normalerweise) dritten und vierten Studienjahr, welches mit dem Graduate Degree (auch 4 year degree - in etwa dem deutschen Diplom oder Magister entsprechend). abschließt. In America muß man im Gegensatz zu Deutschland nach dem 4 year degree noch weitere Kurse belegen, normalerweise zum Erreichen des Doktortitels. Dem entspricht also in Deutschland primär der Doktorand, kann aber auch ein sogeannter Aufbaustudiengang sein.
