This is from an interview with a non-German scientist talking about Germans...

"when you take a nation like the germans, a very educated nation of relatively bright people that is living still under the shadow of the second WW and therefore everyone is expanding himself to be politically correct. they want to project to the world that they are really not the people who wanted to exterminate the jews, they are really not the people who invaded poland, the are really not the people who behaved so forcefully and because of that their behavior in many ways becomes very unnatural. they become more catholic than the pope. very contained. they are still in the grip of adolf. its interesting to see how the arts in many ways can pull you out of misery."

agree  Max Hellwig: Wenn man das so versteht, wie in Bachelor of Arts, dann auf jeden Fall diese Variante. Die schönen Künste bezieht eben nicht Philosophie etc. mit ein.
