Explanation:
In team sports, e.g. soccer, a "set piece" is a certain play sequence which had been previously practised for such eventuality, like a free kick, where several players touch the ball before it is shot on goal. In German, they call it Standardsituation, which admittedly is a somewhat poor circumscription, but that's the vernacular.
