Wie geht es... Explanation: Depending on who you are talking to, you could either say: 1. Hallo, wie geht es dir heute? -You can use this translation if you are talking to a close friend, relative or someone you know well/personally. 2. Guten Tag, wie geht es Ihnen heute?-You can use this translation if you are talking to someone you do not know that well, or when talking to someone of authority like your boss, doctor, etc. We do not use "Wie geht's?" in written English. This is colloquial, and can be used in spoken English when talking to a buddy, for example. Hope this helps a bit! Ciao! :) exp. as a translator and teacher |

Wie geht es Ihnen? ... Explanation: Wie geht es Ihnen? (formal, sin.,plu.) Wie geht es dir? (informal, singular) Wie geht es euch? (informal, plural) Meeting somebody for the first time, we don't use today/heute in German. Only if we know how the person was yesterday or last week, HEUTE makes sense. If that is the case, just add heute to any of the above. :o) |
