Snowboarding/Surfing group or pearl Explanation: This one possibility: "poil" was used decades ago when I was young as a misspelling and mispronunciation of the English word "pearl". Primarily this spelling and pronunciation was attributed to immigrants from Italy or other European countries. It was used in films and comic strips for members of Al Capone type gangs.
