Wörtlich übersetzt klingt es meiner Meinung nach nicht 100%-ig...

Zum Zweck der/Zur Erörterung werden derartige Objekte ... jedoch nur im Zusammenhang mit ...beschrieben.
So würde ich diesen Satz in einem Patent übersetzen. Die meisten meiner Patentkunden bestehen auf einer sehr wörtlichen Übersetzung. Da könnte ein Weglessen vom "Zum Zweck" schon sauer aufstoßen.
Die Übersetzung von discussion -> Erörterung ist übrigen durch das "Wörterbuch der Patent- und Markenpraxis" von Uexküll/Reich gedeckt. Das Buch ist totz des Preises unbedingt zu empfehlen, wenn Du öfters Patente übersetzt.
