4. Indexer Cylinders In/Out (8): There are four sets of 2 kicker cylinders (eight total) on this catwalk – DS and ODS “in” and DS and ODS “out”. Both cylinders per set operate together by using one valve. The “in” indexer cylinders are used to allow pipes to leave the pipe rack arms and enter the catwalk and skate trough area, by pushing the pipe over the pipe indexing pin. This ensures that only 1 pipe may enter the catwalk skate trough. Please see cautionary note, Section 5.3.1 Note 6. The “out” cylinders are used to return pipes to the pipe rack arms for removal (note – the indexing pins must be removed for pipe removal). The cylinder is S&S PN 100009682, 3” bore x 4” stroke. Note: Do not operate the “in” and “out” cylinders at the same time as this would elevate the entire catwalk deck. This would create an unsafe working condition and the potential for a pipe to become trapped below the deck, potentially damaging the catwalk.
5. ***Kicker Cylinders*** In/Out (4): There are 2 sets of ***kicker cylinders***, 4 cylinders total. There is one set on the DS and one on the ODS of the skate trough. The kicker cylinders have a dual purpose. If a pipe is present in the trough, the kicker cylinder is used to eject the pipe from the trough, and cause the pipe to travel across the catwalk deck towards the “out” indexer cylinder. If a pipe is not present in the trough, but is approaching, the appropriate set of kicker cylinders may be extended to act as a stop. When retracted, the skate trough path is unobstructed and the skate may travel towards or away from the V-door. Note: Do not operate the skate if the kicker cylinders are extended as this would damage the skate and kicker cylinder kick plates.
