Es geht vermutlich um die "Zubereitung" von Bohrspülung. Sollen etwa quellfähige Tonminerale zugegeben werden, müssen diese erst "angerührt" werden, bevor sie im Spülungskreislauf ihre Funktion erfüllen können. Hilfreich sind hier Rührgeräte, die scherende Wirkung auf die Tonpartikel ausüben.

Bohrflüssigkeiten/Bohrspülmittel sind Hilfsmittel zur Unterstützung von Bohrungen ins Erdreich, z. B. zwecks Förderung von Erdöl oder Erdgas. In Abhängigkeit von den geologischen Bedingungen kommen dabei unterschiedliche Mischungen zum Einsatz (Water-based mud (WBM), Oil-based mud (OBM) etc.)
