A guy is hounded in a big fight. Lifting a big man over his head, he exclaimed "I am a big buck of the lick"
What should it mean??? "A big buck of the lick" ???

renata von koerber: If you want to stay in that ´picture´you may want to use Platzhirsch, but really, it is what a third party would say about someone, so it would rather be- hier gebe ich den Ton an, I like ´ich bin hier der Boss´. Bock am Wasserloch? makes no sense in Germ

Sabine Mertens: den 'grossen Bock am Wasserloch' gibts so im Deutschen nicht, auch wenn deine Erklärung in die richtige Richtung geht @asker: Weil eine buchstäbliche Übersetzung fast immer voll daneben liegt. Das muss man eigentlich nicht ernsthaft kommentieren!

-> Es muss aber übersetzt werden, Sabine. Wenn du schon keine Aternative hast, und die Erklärung akzeptabel findest, wie kommst du dann dazu die fast buschtäbliche Übersetzung als fehlerhaft beurteilen?
