Definition:
Chance Success Level – In a testing context, specifically for selected–response items, the chance success level is the proportion of correct answers that could occur if all examinees were to randomly guess at the answer. For example, for a five-response option multiplechoice item, each examinee has a 1 in 5 chance of getting the item correct by simply guessing. The chance success level for this item would be 20%.

Zum Beispiel beträgt bei den üblichen fünf Antwortmöglichkeiten pro Item, wovon genau eine richtig ist, die übrigen falsch sind, die sog. a-priori Ratewahrscheinlichkeit je Item 1/5; das ist also die Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass sich eine Person ohne jede Fähigkeit in der gemessenen Eigenschaft zufällig für die richtige Antwort entscheidet.

agree  Werner Walther: Einer der möglichen Begriffe der schließenden Statistik, passt auch in fast jede Sprachebene. Das gleiche wie beim Würfel mit 6 Flächen / Ergebnisse 1-6 Augen gleichverteilt, oder Münze werfen (Zahl oder Adler 1:2).
