English term or phrase: non-denominational minister

Neither wants to be married in a traditional format. A non-denominational minister or Registrar is fine by them. Mary only has one attendant, but Mark would like to have three or four groomsmen to accommodate his brothers and best friend. Mary does not want to be given away and would prefer to walk down the aisle by herself.

Explanation:
"nicht konfessionsgebunden" steht ja im in den gängigen E-D Wörterbüchern, aber gibt es da keine bessere Alternative?

Mein erster Gedanke war "konfessionsfrei" - aber könnte man das auch im Sinne von "unreligiös" verstehen (was nicht unbedingt der Fall ist)?

Bei "konfessionsübergreifend" bin ich mir nicht sicher, ob man das Wort im Zusammenhang mit einer Person anwenden kann.
