Religion | | English term or phrase: Stations were performed | Es handelt sich um die Beschreibung einer heiligen Quelle, die in der Nähe einer Kathedrale in Irland steht. Ich dachte an eine Wachablösung oder auch die "Station" eines Kreuzwegs, aber das sind nur hehre Vermutungen von meiner Seite. Der Kontext ist folgender:
"This holy well dedicated to St Lasair, who also has associations with Devenish and with Kilasser in Co. Mayo. ***Stations were performed*** on the first Sunday of September and the well is said to have a cure for eye complaints among other ailments[...]." |

Die Pilgergottesdienste kann ich aus dem Kontext nicht herauslesen. Aber Stations steht wohl eindeutig für katholische Rituale, insofern wäre meines Ermessens hier [heilige] Messen passend. Die werden dann gefeiert, gelesen oder abgehalten.
Hierzu ein kurzer Kommentar aus der en-Wikipedia:

Das sind wahrscheinlich keine kompletten Messen (mit Kommunion etc.), sondern Andachten o. ä.

Am Ufer befindet sich die Heilige Quelle von St. Lasair, der ursprünglich die Kirche im 6. Jahrhundert gegründet hat. St. Laisars Quelle hat einen Geld- und einen Lumpenbaum. An der Quelle befindet sich ein Schieferstein aus dem Jahre 1686, gewidmet Roger McDermott Roe und seiner Frau. Der gestützte Schieferstein gegenüber der Quelle soll bei Rückenschmerzen Heilung bringen. Hier werden jedes Jahr am ersten Sonntag im September traditionelle Andachten abgehalten. In vergangenen Zeiten war es für Pilger üblich, unter dem Steintisch durchzukriechen, aber heute gestattet das die Kirche nicht mehr.
