English to German translations [PRO] Religion | | English term or phrase: root Beloved | "This is your fundamental root Beloved, but more than just your root Beloved, it is your Divine Companion."
This is from an interview about a book about integral spiritual practice. Here, the different aspects of God as I, you, and it are described. This sentence is about the You-aspect. I know "beloved" togehter with a person, but this usage sounds strange to me. Is it a fixed expression or does it also sound strange for an English native speaker? What exactly does it mean? |

1 hr confidence: peer agreement (net): +1 | root beloved Wurzel, (mein)Geliebter...
Explanation: Ich denke, da fehlt nur ein Komma.
"This is your fundamental root, Beloved, but more than just your root, Beloved, it is your Divine Companion."
"Beloved" ist eine im Sufismus übliche "Anrede" z.B. bei Rumi

Asker: Ich weiß nicht recht, ich glaube, das passt nicht ganz. Es ist nämlich keine Anrede, sondern eine allgemeine Aussage. Hier ein etwas größerer Zusammenhang:
"This is a relationship to the One from whose loving arms I was birthed, into whose arms I will die, who is determining through processes incomprehensible to me all that the apparent accidents of Fate and Luck that create my life (or preserve it in crucial moments), the One on whom I’m dependent for every blessing and every need, the One to whom I give every gift that I give that is truly a sincere gift (not a self-interested gift to make me look good). This is your fundamental ***root Beloved,*** but more than just your root Beloved, it is your Divine Companion. More than merely a parent, it is the most primal relationship of Other-ness possible. It encompasses and it exceeds every primal archetype of relationship."
