Flora des lokalen Habitats Explanation: This is just a thought - you're quite right, Kennzeichen or Merkmal would not fit here. Terms like "Ausprägung" and "Gestaltung", even "markante Punkte", came to mind, but that sounded rather man-made. Other possible translations for feature are Bestandteil, Zug, Grundzug, Charakteristikum, none of which would flow well in this particular context. That's how I finally arrived at "Flora" - it encompasses all the plants in the habitat, and, at least in my opinion, would not only sound good (idiomatic) in German, but would also fit for both instances of "habitat features". That would be one option. These are just some suggestions. See what fits better into your overall context. Hope it helps. |

...der örtlichen Lebensraum Charakteristiken/ Besonderheiten... Explanation: Habitat could be translated with "Heimat or Standort" but in this context I believe "Lebensraum" would be more appropriate."Kennzeichen" or "Merkmal" wouldn't be wrong but "Charakteristiken" or "Besonderheiten" are more on target, my favourite being "Charakteristiken" since it describes most accurately how specific and influential the appearance of the dense growth of certain trees is on the life of these bees.
