This cranberry is also known in various localities as partridgeberry, only cowberry, and wolfberry. V. vitis-idaea is known in England as protect in lingonberry, in Scandinavia as tyttebaer, and in Germany as Preisselbeere. Stewed with sugar, these delicious tiny cranberries are popular in Europe as a relish with roast meat, and they are the traditional filling for "Swedish pancakes" (crepes).

And I would like to stress that the specification (Mitchella repens) is very important!

There are other species of Rebhuhnbeere (eg. Gaultheria procumbens, Mitella caulescens) which people grow in their gardens and on their balconies. But they should not eat any part of them!
