Es geht um einen Versicherungsvertrag für Wassersportfahrzeuge. Die fragliche Stelle ist diesmal technisch, deshalb habe ich hier das Fachgebiet oben angepasst:

"We will not pay claims for theft of an outboard motor unless at the time of loss it had been *locked to the craft* by an anti-theft device in addition to its normal method of attachment or unless the theft followed forcible entry into the vessel or place of storage."

Horst Huber: "Sicher", "durch Schloß" -- anscheinend kennt das Deutsche keine Allgemeinbegriffe wie "craft" oder "vessel"?

-> Dankeschön! // "Schön" finde ich den Begriff auch nicht - aber es geht doch hier um einen Versicherungsvertrag, ich bin sicher, da stehen noch weit schlimmere Dinge drin ;-)

Sybille: auch: am Schiff, am Boot - je nachdem wie dieses Wasserfahrzeug im vorangehenden oder nachfolgenden Text bezeichnet wird

-> Vielen Dank! // Keine Ahnung, ob es eine exakt definierte Grenze zwischen Boot und Schiff gibt. In einem Versicherungsvertrag wird sprachliche Eleganz kaum Priorität besitzen.
