Liebe Golfspieler,
ich habe hier einen Werbetext eines Golfschlägerherstellers, der die Vorzüge seiner neuen Modelle erläutert.

Es geht um Forged-Eisen:
Who is this product aimed at?
This muscleback blade is designed for those golfers looking to *work and shape* the golf ball (+ to 4 handicap).
So als Laie würde ich sagen, irgendwie den Ball manövrieren, steuern , lenken, aber das machen ja alle Spieler, daher frage ich mich (und euch), wie sagt der Profi?

Explanation:
Es geht darum (bei shape), dem Golfball einen Drall mitzugeben, ähnlich dem Ball beim Billiard (dort:effet).
Ob es dafür eine bessere Bezeichnung im Deutschen gibt, oder ob der Begriff (bzw. beide, 'work' und 'shape') unübersetzt gelassen werden, weiß ich nicht.

neutral  Joan Hass: das mit dem Drall mag richtig sein und klingt logisch, aber statt bearbeiten würde ich doch eher "schlagen" verwenden

disagree  Cilian O'Tuama: das kann ein golfer auch mit normalen schlägern - bei "work and shape" geht es um die Feinheiten. Muss was anderes sein.

wobei mir persönlich "mit Drall schlagen" besser gefällt,

  -> das "Besondere" liegt daran den Schlag entsprechend auszuführen und vor allem auch den richtigen Schläger zu wählen, der den Drall erst unterstützt, denn je nach Form und Schlagfläche gibt das deutlichen Einfluss auf den Ball bei korrektem Schlag

disagree  Cilian O'Tuama: agree that it's not far from wrong :-) - man will doch bei jedem schlag mit jedem schläger den ball beeinflussen etc.

  -> yes - but your argument also would apply to "work" - normally the player (of which I am one occasionally) wants to not influence the ball (direction) and just make it go straight :) "beim Schlagen eine nicht gerade Flugbahn erzielen" ;)
