English term or phrase: acoustical noise
Context: Acoustical noise:
Stefanie Bulovic
German translation:"akustische Rauschleistung" or "akustische Rauschen"
Explanation:
When you first think of it "acoustical noise" also sounds like a white white horse but "Noise" can also be video disturbance/interference. There are many dictionary and AltaVista mentions for "rausch" as a prefix / adjective in connection with electronic subjects, but not much for "Geräusch" or "Lärm". The word "Rauschen" and the prefix "rausch" are used for video or acoustic noise level discussions in the URLs below.

Signal/Rauschabstand: Verhältnis zwischen der Signalleistung und der Rauschleistung einer Kamera, angegeben in dB. Der Signal-Rauschabstand ist ein Maß für die Signalqualität - je höher der Wert, umso höher die Qualität.

Best would be to find a German Hi-Fi, Video or DVD specification sheet but I have not been able to find one in the Internet and the few I have myself do not have the right info. They only talk about "Signal-Rauschabstand".

akustischer Lärm, Geräusch

Explanation:
per
Siemens Fachwörterbuch Energie- und Automatisierungstechnik

akustisches Rauschen per Walther, Wörterbuch der Technik

I might just pick "Rauschen" by itself.

Rauschen

Explanation:
Context makes clear that, the phenomenon is akustisch. Do not use Lärm or Geräusch. Beside, you can have Rauschen also on your TV screen. In this case, it is optical.

Lärm, Geräusch, Schall(pegel)

Explanation:
