The "french" I am referring to is a tiny unit of measurement for diameters. It is abbreviated as "Fr."

I only know that its counterpart in German is abbreviated as "Ch.", but I do not know what this stands for.

a unit of distance for measuring the diameter of small tubes such as catheders, fibre optic bundles etc.
1 french = 1/3 mm = approx. 13.123 mils

The name and the symbol Ch rfer to the Charrière gauge scale, called in English-speaking countries the French scale. Charrière was a 19th century French instrument manufacturer.
