English to German translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Telecom(munications) / Mobile Phone Features
English term or phrase:conversational
"Allows for a conversational chat-like user experience with a single contact list for the most personal mobile-to-mobile communications"
How could one render "conversational" here? Is it maybe "dialogorientiert" or "interaktiv"? Then again, I guess any use of sms/texting is interactive, and this is supposed to be a special feature...

Hello ArnoTranslates, you are most definitely not dense! ;-) Your question is totally valid. I do apologise for the lack of context. I don't have much more, but should have added earlier that this is about sms/texting, not speaking on the phone. The entry comes under "enhanced sms experience".
Maybe I'm dense, but it would help me to know what it is that allows communications to be more conversational. Neither dialogorientiert nor interaktiv sound like any unique adjective for a conversation. So, how are these conversations held differently from others?

Explanation: (1) Pertaining to an SNA conversation or a dialog between two programs.
(2) Pertaining to a program or a system that carries on a dialog with a terminal user, alternately receiving and transmitting data. See also pseudoconversational:
(1) In BTS, the way in which an activity can be reattached ("reactivated") when a predefined event occurs, in order to take the next in a set of processing steps. See also activation.
(2) A type of CICS application design that appears to the user as a continuous conversation, but that consists internally of multiple tasks. See also conversational.

Explanation: now that we know it is texting, simultan emphasizes the non-sequential nature of this way of communicating (if I understand it right). If you think it is an overpromise, you could water it down to quasi-simultan.
A colloquial idiom could then be coined, like Simultanquatsch :)
(I find the dialogorientiert too socio-intellectual for a fun product, and interaktiv too inspecific--isn't normal texting interactive already?

@ Intrans, re your note: I am afraid you have a point with the synchronicity (or rather non-synchronicity). That is what I was thinking of too when I added the quasi-simultan.
Good idea to double-check with the client on what it really does.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thank you, ArnoTranslates. I understand what you're saying about the connotations of "dialogorientiert" and I agree any communication between two people is interactive. Not too sure about "simultan" though. Are they really just trying to say it happens at the same time, ie simultaneously? The more I think about it, the more I find that "chat-like" (chat-artig?) includes all these aspects and I don't see what else "conversational" is supposed to convey. Guess I'll have to check with the customer. Thanks again.
The updates to the menu were made to make the site easy and more intuitive for visitors. Obviously, like any change, this may take a few days to get used to.
The dropdown menus have been divided into two-dimensional panels with similar items grouped together under headings. This eliminates scrolling for those with smaller screens, and also improves readability.
Mouseover your name at the top of the screen. Here you will find information about your account, your email settings, and more. The "My ProZ.com" menu was moved up here to simplify the main navigation, and to keep all of this type of information together.
