Radscheibe, Radkörper Explanation: Not a term usually used in railway parlance, this is actually the wheel centre, or the disc onto which the wheel tyre is shrunk - unless you are talking one-piece wheels, which is not the case here, it seems. Beware, though; the axle or hub is located in the centre of the wheel centre... The wheel centre is often cast in the form of a disc, with a hole for the axle in the middle. Check for these terms in the UIC Railway Dictionary. |
