English term or phrase: direction of the moult
With regards to bird's feathers and moulting time (shedding of feathers and growing of new ones) which happens once a year, how would you translate it that for an anatomy drawing

"die Richtung von der Mauser" OR "die Mauserrichtung" or rather use "die Abfolge von der Mauser"?

Help much appreciated. Thanks

Ablauf der Mauser
Explanation:
Maybe 'Ablauf der Mauser'? That is quite generic so that it can mean a special sequence or system according to which the feathers are shed. I intentionally avoided the term 'direction'; I think 'Ablauf' is sufficiently vague and yet explicit at the same time. Without any additional context (ideally, the illustration), this is quite difficult, especially since the whole process usually varies very much depending on the bird species.
