Επίσης ένα πλεονέκτημα που συνειδητοποιήθηκε πολύ αργότερα είναι η δυνατότητα ο ίδιος πιλότος να πετάει αεροσκάφη πολύ μεγαλύτερου μεγέθους, για παράδειγμα Α340, χωρίς να καταλαβαίνει ότι υπάρχει διαφορά στον τρόπο συμπεριφοράς του αεροπλάνου με συνέπεια να μην απαιτείται μακροχρόνια και δαπανηρή εκπαίδευση για τη μετάβασή του από τον ένα τύπο αεροσκάφους στον άλλον. Αυτή η ικανότητα ονομάζεται Cross-Crew-Qualification και σήμερα είναι μια αιχμή στις πωλήσεις της Airbus σε σχέση με τον ανταγωνισμό.
