|English term or phrase: question-begging|
|It is surely a truism that the crucial question of continuity between "the past of Jesus" and "his present", between the Jesus of history and the Christ of faith, to use the very question-begging phrase, is a question about what happened to the beliefs of these companions of Jesus.|
I don't need the whole passage - only this "question-begging". I'm begging for an answer!
your project sounds like a back translation because the english text sounds really clumsy as it is. since you may need to do some rephrasing, here are my two drachmas before they rapidly fall in disuse:
question-begging phrase: afthaireti/anapodeikti/atekmirioti dilosi
"to use the very question-begging phrase": για να διαπράξω το ίδιο λογικό σφάλμα, για να μιλήσω εξίσου αυθαίρετα
good luck to you :-)

there are indeed a few ways in which "question-begging" can be translated but I think at this point you would be perfectly safe by saying "για να χρησιμοποιήσω την ίδια φράση που γεννά ερωτήματα". Like the previous colleague, I also agree that the English text before you belongs to another language and is not the original.
