Rotor and stator field of a synchronous generator run at same speed, if due to any disturbance , mismatch in the speed of rotor and stator occurs then pole slipping is initiated.

IN SYNCHRONOUS MACHINE THERE R INTER LOCK B/W ROTOR AND
STATOR POLES.
IF SUDDEN LOAD CHANGE THEN THIS LOCKING MISMACH.
THIS IS POLE SLIP
