Πιστεύω ότι η ερμηνεία του όρου δεν μπορεί να αποδοθεί μονολεκτικά γιατί spinning=περιδίνηση. Μηχανολογικά είναι η εξαγωγή ενός περιστρεφόμενου διαλύματος (όπως λιωμένο πλαστικό) μέσα απο ένα ιστογόνο καλούπι (McGraw-Hill Αγγλοελληνικό Λεξικό Μηχανικών) το δε spin-off=παραγωγή υποπροϊόντος
