In an article published in 1989, I wrote about introducing post-graduate social work students to electronic mail, word-processing, some basic computer-assisted learning and data-base management (Sharkey, 1989). The pace of change has been very rapid over the 10 years since the article was published and it has felt very much like 'running hard to stand still'.

Σε εξήγηση το μοναδικό που βρήκα ήταν:
"running just to stand still" would be a somewhat ironic phrase meaning that things are moving so fast that you have to run just to try and keep up with where they are, with no chance of getting ahead of them.
Δεν μπόρεσα να βρω αν ο ιδιωματισμός προέρχεται από τα χαμστεράκια ή το διάδρομο των γυμναστηρίων. :-}
