I was wondering how one would say this in modern Greek? Ambrosios was a god of food and drink among the ancient Greeks from which the modern English word 'ambrosia' is derived.

ambrosia is used in Modern Greek too to denote a heavenly food :)

You will also notice that in Greek the word vatomouro tends to cover raspberries, blueberries and blackberries (although a raspberry officially is translated as \"sm\'Eouro\" or \"frampou\'Az\"). Cranberry tends to be translated as agriok\'Eraso (although the official translation is \"f\'Iggi\" or \"f\'Iggi to xioanth\'Es\") and gooseberry tends to be translated as fragkost\'Afilo (although the official translation would be \"lagok\'Eraso\"). Of course our cute friend the strawberry is translated as fr\'Aoula :)
