Italo - Mediterranean workshop for the Development of an Economic
Cooperation in the fields of bio-and nano-technologies.
For the first time, emerging countries from the two shores of the Mediterranean along with their French, Spanish and Israeli counterparts working and operating in the fi eld of high-innovation of nano-biotechnology, came together with companies, research centre and science parks to evaluate the possibilities open to them for the development of new projects. One of the main promoters of this event held at the National Foreign Trade Institute was Menarini Biotech who had a decisive role in heightening the interest in the fields of Italian Research & Biopharmaceutical development.
In the plenary session Dr. Cecilia Simonelli from Menarini Research gave a speech entitled: “Abagovomab and the Phase III Mimosa Study: A successful collaboration between Mediterranean Countries” which attracted considerable consensus from the audience of delegates.
On the following day, representatives from the delegations belonging to France, Marocco, Egypt, Spain, South Africa, Tunisia, Turkey, Croatia, Bulgaria and Israel made a visit to the Centre for Biotechnology at Menarini Biotech in Pomezia.
Dr. Fiore, one of the top managers at the National Foreign Trade Institute, sent a letter of thanks sent to Menarini Biotech in which he expresses his gratitude for Menarini’s active contribution to the workshop, highlighting the positive feedback received from the foreign delegates at the meeting and congratulating us on the high technological and scientific value of the development and production facilities as well as the advanced technologies used and the Quality System implemented in Menarini Biotech.
Ultimately this workshop was the first substantial step towards establishing a cooperative
Relationship with emerging countries but which may, in the near future, play an important role in the pharmaceutical and biomedical sectors in the Mediterranean basin. |
