Θεωρώ τα safe/safety πιο πλήρη και γενική έννοια του όρου "ασφαλής/ασφάλεια" και ουσιαστικά εμπεριέχουν την έννοια των "secure/security".

Πάντως, Νεκταρία τόχω αποδώσει ως \"ασφάλεια και προστασία\" σε φράση \"safety or security issues\" σε πολιτική για καταστάσεις έκτακτης ανάγκης 2 μεγάλων διεθνών εταιρειών μέχρι τώρα και έγινε αποδεκτό από Έλληνες διευθυντές των επιχειρήσεων. Μέχρι τότε είχα κι εγώ το ίδιο ακριβώς δίλημμα με σένα.

Explanation:
After much thinking and research, I found and came to the conclusion that although the concepts of safety and security are very similar, there is a major difference between them: one is active, the other passive, especially when used together. We don’t need to say that in English, because there are different words, and we perceive the difference. The way to go about it, in Portuguese, is to translate safety as “segurança ativa” and security as “segurança passiva”, when both terms are used in the same phrase or text. Thus, “safety and security” nicely becomes “segurança ativa e passiva”.
