English term or phrase: mum dad
mum and dad as in parents
debbie mckay
Gujarati translation:મા બાપ‌
Explanation:
Whereas mummy pappa is colloquial, for referring to the word 'parents' મા બાપ‌ (ma baap) would be more appropriate because it is a Gujarati term and the other term is merely a corruption of mummy and papa.

I would like to clarify one more thing - in a formal setting, as in a questionnaire, "parents" would be referred to as "ma-bap" (મા બાપ‌) or "mata-pita." (માતા‍ પિતા)

Ba (બા) Bapu/ji (બાપુજી)

Explanation:
It is indeed true that colloquially in the present times Pappa and even Daddy is used as an address for dad by the Gujarati population and Mammy for Mum. Though there are quite a few who have stuck to the classical address.. Ba and Bapu or add a ji for respect as in Bapuji.

For kind attention of all active here:

'Mammy (Mummy)' - 'Pappa' are actually commonly used Gujarati words, used in city life across the Gujarat whereas 'Maa' - 'Baap' are literal words and are not spoken during conversation with parents though they are meant for Mom-Dad.

'Baa' in city life is used to refer grandmother and 'Baapu/ji' is a literal word meant to refer father. However, 'Baa'-'Bapu' are words used in villages or remote places of Gujarat.

Hope this clarifies everything being discussed here.
