oLeverage: leverage can also amplify gains. The whole industry of leveraged buyouts is built on skilled use of leverage. A buyout fund would buy 10-20 companies using some amount of leverage, try to improve how the companies are run and resell them to somebody else in a few years or months for a higher price.
