-> Actually, the Roman name was Iudaea. Only after Bar Kokhba did they change it to Palestina.

karni: In this particular context, the author should have used the word Cnaan/Israel, and not Palestine. The latter name came into general usage by the Romans, at approx. 131 AD.

Eynat: We cannot tell what the writer meant, as the term is often used anachronistically.It would be nice if you could read what you write, never mind others, because that's not 'exactly what you wrote' at all: different historians use it differently.

-> The term ancient Palestine is used by historians to refer to the land of Israel/Canaan in Biblical times and earlier. The use of Palestine is ana anachronism, but it does not equal Peleshet, which is Philistia. Which is exactly what I wrote.
